As I am trying to build this website, I feel challenged by the many options wordpress offers.
It will take time to figure it all out. On Monday, 22 April 2024 is the second council meeting in Paris, where I cannot be in person because I am in Princeton until 31 July 2024. Until then, I hope this website has grown and many of you will contribute their news, comments, questions, events, new publications, and other kinds of information.
I will inform you about our council meetings, the development of our work on the new statutes, internal rules, rules for the Koyré medal and the Young Historian prize, membership structure, and fee structure.
I also will report about our efforts to increase the visibility of the Academy through symposia under Academy auspices or in cooperation with commissions of the DHST at the 27th International Congress of History of Science and Technology from 29 June to 5 July 2025 at the University of Otago n Dunedin or through other measures of cooperation across the globe.
Dear Sonja, dear website administrator,
many thanks for the creation of this new website. Its a great way to present your views and activities, and for all of us members it is nice to be able to present internationally relevant news and activities to the whole Academy. I wish you great success. We all understand why you chose the current headache image but hope that the situation and your mood will soon improve so that the welcoming image will eventually change to a less depressing entry.
Just a suggestion concerning the structure of the page. Since the subentry “Recent posts” will soon be quite full, I would suggest to introduce a new subcategory “upcoming events” or something similar, to be placed either above “Recent posts” at the top right column, or between “Comments” and “Archives”. This new subentry “upcoming events” should only list links to international conferences, summer-schools or other bigger events, and perhaps be sorted chronologically with respect to the date when these will happen. You might also want to introduce a new category “Job openings”, listing only internationally relevant job openings with a not too tight deadline and displaying them only up to this deadline.
Good luck and best regards to all of you

Dear Klaus,
thank you vey much for your helpful suggestions and for being the first active user of this new website.
I will introduce the proposed changes in cooperation with my daughter who is so kind to support me given my low vision. The image reflects not only my mood, but also my sense of humor. Moreover, it is a document which I consider belonging to the history of medicine. There are others of a similar kind produced in 19th-century France. I uploaded it under the header image randomly. I assumed it will change automatically, but I now found out that this is not the case. Hence, I will change the images manually from time to time. You as well as any other member is/are welcome to send me images that I can upload on the site, perhaps as ‘the image of the month’.
All the best and once more, and thank you very much!
Sonja
